Newsletter 3, Summer 2016

Newsletter 3,  Summer 2016

Spring is finally here in spite of the wind, snow and hail last week. The children are enjoying the sunshine in the garden this morning, the birds are singing and the blossom is blossoming J

  Feast – Saturday 11th June

The theme this year is Something beginning with J and we have chosen Jelly Beans. As usual, we will be asking the children who are going up to school in September to join us in the Parade. We will provide the costumes (and we have some fabulous ideas for those!). Our Committee will be running a stall and a hamper raffle to raise funds for Playgroup. We will be announcing the date of our Making Evening soon. This is when staff, parents and carers get together to make costumes and props and decorations for the stall and float – everyone is welcome to come along and help. More information about Feast will be coming very soon….

Hot weather – Please remember to apply sunscreen each morning and provide your child with a sun hat and loose comfortable clothes that will protect their skin from the sun. If you would like us to reapply during the day, please send sun cream in clearly labelled with your child’s name. For safety reasons, we regret that we cannot allow sunglasses in sessions.

Wet weather – Please send waterproof clothing with your child on wet days. (coat, wellies and waterproof trousers too if possible) and a full change of clothes. The children have access to the garden and water play in all weather and the grass and slides can get quite wet. We do have a limited supply of spare clothes at Playgroup, but we run out very quickly on wet days, so it really helps us if each child has their own change of clothes. Please label all your child’s belongings as this really helps staff.

Parent Rota -  We welcome parents and carers to come in and help at one of their children’s sessions. We really appreciate the help and it is a nice way to understand your child’s experience at Playgroup and get to know their Key Person. Please sign up on our Parent rota on the notice board if you would like to join us for a session.

Extra Sessions – We are happy to take one-off bookings for sessions where we have spaces. We charge for extra sessions at the same rates as our normal sessions and ask for payment in full on the day of the session. Please see Jacqui for details.

Facebook- Join our Facebook group for more updates and pictures of our activities!

Our website (www.info@waterbeachplaygroup.org.uk) has full details of term dates, Newsletters and our 2015 – 16 blog which has some lovely photos and details of Playgroup activities.

Reminders

  • We are a nut free building. Please do not include any nut products in your child’s lunch.
  • We regret that we cannot dispose of nappies on site. Please make sure that you collect nappies from the bin by the front door.
  • If your child is ill and cannot come to Playgroup, please call and let us know. If they have experienced vomiting and/or diarrhoea, they are not allowed to return to Playgroup for 48 hours after the last incident.
  • Please label all your children’s belongings. Staff spend a lot of time trying to find children’s coats, gloves, jumpers etc. and we do occasionally have items of clothing getting lost or going home with the wrong family.
