Sessions, Fees and Funding

Playgroup Sessions

All Sessions run Monday to Friday during the school term. Children aged 2, 3 or 4 years old are welcome to attend any of our sessions and you can mix and match to get the best fit for you and your child. Children can attend all day, a morning or afternoon session with or without lunch.

09:00 – 12:00 Morning Session

12:00 – 12:30 Lunch Session (we can extend lunch sessions to 1 hour on request if space is available)

12:30 – 15:00 Afternoon Session

Library visits
The visit to Waterbeach Library take place every three weeks on a Monday. All children attending Playgroup on a Monday morning need to join the library to be able to join in with this activity. This gives the children a chance to visit the library to choose and change books. Any fines incurred are payable by the parents not the Playgroup. Dates of the terms library visits are displayed on the playgroup notice board.  There is no fee for this activity.

French lessons
We are pleased to be able to offer French lessons to children in their pre-school year. We aim to provide a fun introduction to the French language through songs, rhymes and games. Places are limited, so we ask parents to enrol their child. We also ask for a small, voluntary donation per family which is used to purchase language resources for the Playgroup.

Fees and Funding

Fees for the academic year 2017 – 18 are as follows:

Child’s Age Fee payable per hour
 2years  £5.50
 3 years and over  £4.50

Please see below for further details of the charges applicable, available funding, billing and payment methods.

Early Years Funding

All children qualify for Cambridgeshire County Council Early Years Funding from the term commencing after their third birthday. This provides 15 hours of funding per child (equivalent to five full Playgroup sessions per week). Playgroup will ask you to complete a headcount form which will enable us to claim funding for your child. The form asks you to provide details of both your WCP sessions and any sessions that your child attends at other childcare providers so that we can apply for the correct amount of funding. Please come and talk to us if you have any questions regarding your funding as we realise that when more than one setting is involved it can be complicated!

Playgroup Fees

For children attending Playgroup who are not funded by the Cambridgeshire County Council, we charge fees as set out above. This applies to those children who are under 3 or whose 3rd birthday occurs during the current half term. It also applies to children who have already used their full quota of funding, but wish to attend additional sessions with us.

We participate in the Government’s scheme offering free places to eligible 2 year olds, which is administered in conjunction with our local Children’s Centre.

You should receive a bill on the first day of each term. We will give you the option to settle either in a lump sum, or by weekly installments. The bill will give a due by date for both the full payment (generally the end of the second week of term), and the first payment , should you chose to pay in installments (usually the end of the first week of term).

Due by dates will vary depending on the days attended and also one which day of the week term starts. We do ask that you settle your bill promptly and keep up with weekly installments. Failure to do so may affect your child’s place at playgroup. If for any reason you are unable to settle your bill on time, we ask that you come to see us as soon as possible.

We accept payment:

  • By bank transfer
  • In cash
  • By cheque, payable to Waterbeach Community Playgroup
  • By Childcare voucher. Please let us know if you wish to pay this way, as we may not already be registered with your provider.

Notice Period

Please note that if you wish to cancel your child’s place or reduce their hours, we require 2 weeks’ written notice. Fees will be charged in full for the notice period. If notice is not given, 2 weeks’ fees will still be payable in lieu of the notice period.
