It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Playhouse. Here at Community Playgroup we have been excitedly anticipating the beginning of December so that we can begin opening our wonderful Christmas advent calendar we all worked together to create. Trying to guess who will be hiding under each number brings such excitement and we can’t wait to see if our guesses are right.

We have spent time learning the Nativity story and lots of Christmas songs and rhymes, dressing in costumes and pretending to be shepherds, kings or an angel has been so much fun.

We have decorated lots of different trees from felt ones to real ones and everything else in between………in December if you stand still for too long you run the risk of being decorated by an excited group of children.

The staff and children created lots of different displays in December and one of the favourites was “Freddie the snowman” ……..and I think you’ll agree he is a very handsome chap!

Each year we produce a Christmas craft to raise much needed funds for playgroup, this year we made some lovely Christmas eve plates using the children’s hand and footprints, I’m sure anyone who received one would cherish it for years to come.

During December there is always copious amounts of glitter and sparkly sequins as we enjoy lots of festive crafts and this year was no exception. We were very pleased to be able to invite all of our children and their families to our Christmas craft morning, everyone had a great time together making festive treats and decoration, sharing Christmas themed snacks and then finishing the morning with a story and a rousing chorus of Christmas songs. We Closed the Autumn term with a fun filled Christmas party with traditional party games, dancing, face painting and of course a wonderful party lunch.
