Week beginning 4th March 2024
Spring has sprung at the playhouse!

This week we explored all things to do with spring, thinking about the colours, sights and changes as the trees begin to bud and blossom and new life begins to emerge all around us.
We made some spring headbands, some flower suncatchers, thought about new life on the farms and also made some cress caterpillars.
We celebrated world book day on Thursday, lots of our children came dressed as their favourite book characters from Alfie to Paddington and of course a sprinkling of Elsa’s and we all had fun exploring some of our most favourite stories like cave baby, The very hungry caterpillar and the super tato series.
In our STEM activity this week we worked together to release flowers trapped in ice, working out how best to melt the ice…… I wonder if Elsa had anything to do with that???.
Another busy week of fun together

Week beginning 11th March 2024
Science week

This week we have been exploring lots of STEM activities as we joined in science week. The children had lots of fun with shadow puppets, Oobleck and looking at chemical reactions, like the reaction between vinegar and bicarbonate of soda in our Duplo volcano.
We  looked at how plants, or celery take up water, the effect salt has on ice and also explored sinking and floating with lots of objects from around the playhouse and some boats we made.
Of course there was also many other activities and invitations every day to explore both inside and out.
What another busy week at Community Playgroup.

Easter fun week beginning 18th March - 28th March

For the last two weeks of the spring term we spent time exploring the Easter theme. We created beautiful artwork using a variety of media and materials, we explored different textures like soft moon sand, wet sand, shredded paper and lots natural resources. We had fun developing our fine motor skills with pipettes and threading activities and also made some confetti cookies.

The children spent time making baskets and Easter crowns for our Easter number hunt, searching the garden for lots of numbered eggs which they exchanged for some small chocolate treats.

We hope you enjoy looking at what we got up to and we wish you all a very Happy Easter
