Week beginning 2nd October 2023
This week we’ve had great fun beginning to explore the changing season,  we have been thinking about the colours, smells and things that we can see changing all around us.
From autumn potions and prickly hedgehogs to making warm cinnamon apple muffins…..there was lots of amazing conversation going on and as usual lots of messy fun!
We also celebrated world animal day on Wednesday, looking at our favourite animals and their habitats. We read the story Handa’s surprise which features lots of the animals we were exploring. In the story Handa is walking to see her friends with a basket laden with lovely fruit, but on the way some rather cheeky animals decide to quietly eat some! We thought it would be good to try some  different fruit with the children and then decide which ones were our favourite, it showed us how unique we all are because we all liked different things.
This week we also started using our new Owl Achievements board. At playgroup we have some golden rules that we try to follow which include things like we are kind, we are helpful and we look after the toys. The children all have an owl that they have decorated and each day if they demonstrate one of our golden rules their special owl gets placed on the board. The visual representation really helps our children to learn and understand the rules and gives them a real sense of pride and achievement.
We had a great week together and we really hope you enjoy looking at our photos

Week beginning 9th October 2023

This week at Playgroup we have been exploring all things space whilst we celebrated world space week. Here’s what we got up to…….
We printed some wonderful new planets using balloons and paint, we explored the chemical reaction of bicarbonate of soda and vinegar with our moon dust tray, working our hands and developing fine motor skills with spray bottles.
We used tweezers and tongs to sort the multicoloured stars into jars this was quite tricky as the stars were 2D so it gave our hands a really good workout !!!
We made space potions using pipettes, sparkly space play dough and shape space rockets too!
We baked some delicious space biscuits for our children to share with their families and also developed our artistic skills making lovely patterns in the shaving foam and paint……. It seemed that some of the children might have been channelling Van Gogh as the lovely patterns they made resembled ‘The Starry Night’
We hope you enjoy looking at what we got up to

Week beginning 16th October 2023 More Autumnal fun at playgroup

We closed this half term with another week exploring the changing season.
We made potions, autumnal decorations, some rather magnificent hedgehog bread rolls and had fun building and exploring together.
It’s been a great first half term and we hope you’ve all enjoyed looking at what we’ve been up to.
Wishing everyone a happy and safe half term

Week beginning 30th October 2023 - Halloween fun

This week we explored all things Halloween, many of our children were super excited about their own celebrations at home and talked about getting dressed up, having parties and trick or treat trips.
We spent time having fun with pumpkins, making spooky potions and also created some sweet treats of our own
