Week beginning 5th October.
Harvest
At Playgroup this week we have been thinking all about Harvest. Looking at food, seeds and flowers that are coming to the end of their growing season and what they provide us. Some of the children still have their sunflowers that we planted earlier in the year and some amazing sunflower seed heads became a great fine motor activity for us all as we carefully plucked the seeds out. We created some shape scarecrows, looking at what shapes fitted different body parts best and enjoyed the scarecrows wedding tuff tray. The children learnt the Dingle Dangle scarecrow song too and loved jumping up and pretending to be the scarecrow. This week we also collected lots of tinned, dried and packet food and other essentials for the food bank. We then had a trip out to deliver everything we had collected to the Baptist chapel and a stop off at the play park for a play, snack and some hot chocolate as a lovely treat. On Friday it was a blustery day and we had lots of fun in the garden with our movement ribbons running and dancing around and making the ribbons move and swirl in the wind Our stories of the week were: • The Little Red Hen • One Mole Digging a Hole • The Scarecrows’ Wedding
